Bunny Gives the Side-Eye to Humans Who Buy Bunnies at Easter
Thanks, Ken, Kaci, and bunny Clover! Ken writes, “This Easter Clover says ‘Make it chocolate. Us bunnies are a lot of work and do not make a good gift.’ Clover was abandoned and on the street when we rescued her 5 years ago.”
This seems like a good time to plug Make Mine Chocolate!, a campaign to educate the public on the realities of living with a rabbit, and to discourage giving live rabbits as Easter gifts. As they write:
Rabbits are a familiar symbol of the Easter holiday. It is no surprise that children beg their parents for a bunny of their own. Ill-prepared to care for these unique creatures, their "owners" often quickly tire of them, flooding local humane societies and rabbit rescues with former Easter rabbits or dumping them outside to die.
So every year, make your Easter bunnies chocolate!
